Suspension

The suspension team is responsible for ensuring the car will exhibit good handling characteristics for a variety of different dynamic events. The purpose of the vehicle suspension is to maximize the friction between the tires and the racing surface thus creating maximum traction and steering over a variety of varying track conditions. In addition, the suspension system needs to absorb the loads being transmitted to the chassis to prevent chassis and/or suspension failure. This can be quite challenging to design a system that has the required strength while minimizing weight. Each year many teams aren’t able to complete all the dynamic event due to suspension failure.
