Ergonomics

The ergonomics team is responsible for the integration of the driver and the vehicle. This includes driver comfort, placement of controls and proper safety equipment. Components usually involved in ergonomics are the seat, seat belts, steering wheel, shifter, pedals, and shut-off switches. In addition, the team must insure that placement of tube members, fire extinguisher, brackets, etc. will not interfere with the driver. During the endurance race our drivers are in the car for over an hour at a time. If the driver is uncomfortable or any part of their body is coming in contact with parts of the car (other than the controls), their performance and lap times suffer.
